The ACS typically offers a program for former international students. As a matter of fact the program has been designed for the students who have graduated from a university within Australia and thus seeking permanent residency. The ACS Professional Year Program in Computing/ICT provides thus typically provides the additional pathway from university to employment within Australia. Upon the successful completion of a Professional Year program specified by the Minister, a participant may be awarded 5 points under the Skilled Occupation List (SOL).

The Australian Computer Society Professional Year is scheduled for a minimum of 44 weeks to a maximum of 52 weeks.

The progress of your application for ACS Professional Year program can be tracked via the Application Status online using your application number and password.

How long is your result letter valid for?

All result letters are valid for 24 months from date of issue.

How many points will you be awarded?

While the ACS is authorized to assess ICT skills assessments, the final decision in awarding points remains with the Department of Immigration and Border Protection.

No! The Australian Computer Society stands as the only provider gazetted by the Minister for Immigration and Border protection.

Who can apply to do ACS Professional Year Program?

This is typically a job-readiness program. The program is aimed at former international ICT students who have been issued a 485 Skilled Graduate Visa.

What are the eligibility criteria?

To qualify for the ACS Professional Year Program, you must have:
  • Completed an undergraduate or postgraduate award in Australia in ICT
  • Hold or applied for a 485 visa (either stream)
  • English language proficiency of IELTS score 6.0 overall with no band less than 5.0
